Simple Infant Fruit Costume
Last updated October 30, 2006
Make a simple, no-sew fruit costume for any infant! We made a strawberry costume for our baby (pictured here at five months old), but the idea can be easily adapted for just about any fruit:
Materials: Directions: - Cut a small poncho out of fabric, making sure hole is large enough to fit around baby's head. Here we used red, for the strawberry. Be sure to cut in the shape of a fruit (crescent for banana, circle for fruit, teardrop for strawberry, etc.) - If desired, cut leaf pieces out of green felt, and glue on to embellish. - Embellish with marker or paint for finishing touches (seeds on a strawberry, dimples on an orange, etc.) - Dress baby in coordinated clothes and lay poncho on top. Enjoy!
This costume is a nice alternative to potentially bulky or uncomfortable store-bought baby costumes. It easily slips over any weather-appropriate outfit your baby might wear, and can be quickly removed if she gets fussy or uncomfortable. |
