Feather and Pine Cone Turkey
Last updated December 08, 2006
This simple craft makes an adorable November decoration or addition to the Thanksgiving table centerpiece.

Materials:

  • 1 medium or large mature pine cone
  • 1 sheet red construction paper
  • play dough (or hot glue)
  • glue
  • 2 google eyes (optional)
  • several craft feathers

  • Directions:

    - Cut the shape of turkey head and neck from red construction paper at a size that accomodates the pine cone.

    - Draw eyes and face on turkey, and/or adhere google eyes.

    - Stick small globs of play dough into the pine cone's crevices, and then stick feathers and paper head in play dough to adhere. This allows the youngest children to participate in the craft. For older kids, hot glue may be used to adhere feathers (with adult supervision.)

    - Gobble, Gobble, Gobble!

Update! Kristina from Huntsville, Alabama submitted this photograph of an embellished version of the pine cone turkey using additional feathers and colored popcicle sticks.
